Anna Yin wrote this poem inspired by the photos taken during the film project for public art: fossil record, and historical erasure incidents. Photos credit: Roy Marques CSC full life member
Two photographs were sent to me,
I worry about their exposure:
a little privacy in the shadows
a feast for the wild imagination…
I demand they be deleted.
There are so many surprises we cannot imagine.
We plan to shoot the poetry recitation by candlelight tonight,
but we know it will be a post-production technique-
decades ago, there was only silence,
butterflies fluttering in the imagination.
But you stubbornly kept
all the exposed parts
in your memory,
in your heart,
let them
toss and turn.
